Cow Elk Photos 4.

A female elk, or cow, grazing in the forest. Elk can, if their populations are left unchecked (such as happens when natural predators like wolves and bears are killed off), do a lot of damage to the environment. Yellowstone NP, in Wyoming, is testimony to both the damage they can do, as well as the balance a healthy population of predators, can bring to any ecosystem. Cow elk, photos, Jasper NP, Alberta, Canada. (Cervus canadensis)
