Prairie Dog Photo.

Prairie Dog, headshot, Custer State Park, SD

Cute is one word that springs to mind when we look at these little animals. Though they're not a member of the 'dog' family, (they're rodents), the young are referred to as 'pups'. Prairie dogs live in colonies called "towns", often ranging from 1 to 1000 acres in size. With some patience and luck, I was able to approach this guy closely enough for a nice intimate shot. Prairie Dog, Custer State Park, South Dakota.
