Wandering Tattler

A Wandering Tattler, Wrangell St. Elias National Park, Alaska.

This Wandering Tattler was found in the high alpine regions of Skolai Pass, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, Alaska. I was attracted to it because I'd never before seen photographs of one perched like this - shorebirds are more commonly found running around on the ground. Wandering Tattler's are actually a small wading birds. The soft overcast light made for nice lighting conditions for this picture. (Tringa incana - formerly Heteroscelus incanus)
