Thankfully, the great bald eagle has returned. Still requiring closely monitored protection in the Lower 48 states, bald eagles are plentiful in Alaska. These birds gather in large numbers around Homer, Alaska, (where I took these photographs) for the winter months and though completely wild, are quite habituated to humans. Visit the "eye of the beholder" gallery for several of my favorite eagle images.

I've enjoyed shooting images of bald eagles for a couple of years, and have been fortunate to take home a few photos that represent what I was hoping to catch. These photographs feed my creative drive to capture fresh new images each year, and I'm always keen to shoot again as soon as I'm done scanning the slides on the light table. I try to catch a vaiety of shots, in flight, portraits and headshots, fishing, soaring, flying, landing, taking off, etc, as well as any interesting behavioural actions that I see. While the light is good, the eagles soaring and there's film left in my camera I'll always enjoy taking more of these photographs. I hope you enjoy viewing them.
