Bull Elk Bugling 4.

The rut is the breeding season, and this is when the bulls, in the prime of their condition, fight over the cows. The bugling, or calling, is both a challenge to nearby bulls, and simultaneously a call to attract local females. Shooting vertical photos of this, such as this one, helps impart a sense of the dynamic nature of the action. Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. (Cervus Elaphus)
