Eye of the Moose!

moose portrait, in shadow, light rays on eye

-- remember that great song by Survivor from the 80's, the theme to Rocky III? Well, originally it was titled "Eye of the Moose", but the producer decided that moose were not perceived by the general public to be a threatening or dangerous animal and a compromise was made: "Eye of the Tiger" became a hit song. I stood waiting on the freezing, snow-covered ground for this moose, deep in the shaded woods, to move into a position where the light hit her in an interesting manner. Finally, the moose turned, the sun's rays caught her eye, and I made this image.
